The police in Delta State have arrested 55-year-old suspected gun runner, Ufoma Omene, within the Mosogar space of Ethiope West Native Council of the state.
Omene, who resides on the Jesse Junction space of Sapele city, was arrested at about 11:30 p.m., on June 8, 2024.
Confirming the arrest yesterday, spokesperson for the Delta State Police Command, SP Shiny Edafe, mentioned operatives, led by ASP Julius Robinson, stormed Jesse Junction and apprehended the suspect who can also be a member of the Eiye confraternity.
“Upon looking out the residence of the suspect, who had been concerned in a collection of crimes within the state, a domestically fabricated AK-47 rifle and 13 rounds of seven.6mm ammunition have been recovered,” he mentioned.
Edafe additionally confirmed there was a gun duel between the Fast Response Squad and two suspected armed robbers at an undisclosed and uncompleted constructing within the Kwale axis of the state.
He mentioned the police, based mostly on intelligence, stormed their hideout on June 8, 2024, at about 11:40 p.m., and that the suspects, upon sighting the police, opened fireplace and escaped.
