Southeast Asian shipbuilder PaxOcean Engineering has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Singapore-based bunker vessel operator Hong Lam Marine and classification society Bureau Veritas to collectively develop an ammonia bunker vessel design.
David Barrow, vice chairman, South Asia zone of Bureau Veritas Marine & Offshore, stated: “Ammonia has nice potential as a zero-carbon marine gasoline and may play a big position to assist transport attain its decarbonisation objectives, however to fulfil this potential, extra work is required to beat the security and operational challenges. These challenges may be overcome via cross-industry collaboration.”
