The Authorities of Ghana is collaborating with the authorities of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to evacuate 431 stranded Ghanaians misled by unscrupulous brokers who promised them jobs in Dubai and the UAE.
A press launch from the Ministry of Overseas Affairs and Regional Integration dated August 18, 2022, famous “The Ministry’s consideration has been drawn to the detention of some Ghanaian nationals in Dubai on the Al Tawadi Medical Centre and the Immigration Centre.
“Within the wake of the above growth, officers from our Consulate-Normal in Dubai visited our stranded compatriots on the detention centre and prolonged proximity consular help to them.
“From our investigations, it may be confirmed that the majority of our stranded compatriots had been misled by unscrupulous brokers who promised unavailable jobs in Dubai and the United Arab Emirates; the brokers had been paid vital sums to facilitate the entry of the possible travellers into the UAE. They solely found that the roles they had been promised had been non-existent. This, growth of non-availability of job alternatives in Dubai has usually positioned our compatriots in a precarious situation, making them weak and straightforward targets for arrest and detention by the legislation enforcement businesses within the UAE,” it added.
In line with the press launch, the Ghana Consulate-Normal has been in contact with UAE officers on the matter of the safety of the welfare of its nationals on the detention centres.
“Regardless that our stranded compatriots went to the UAE on their very own volition, the Authorities of Ghana is making essential efforts, in collaboration with the UAE authorities, to impact the evacuation of our stranded nationals again to Ghana,” it added.
The Ministry cautioned potential travellers to the Gulf Area to be aware of the despicable actions of unscrupulous brokers.
