Lower than 12 hours after the Congress launched its first checklist, the BJP on Wednesday launched its first checklist of 62 candidates for the November 12 meeting elections in Himachal Pradesh after late-night deliberations. The get together has saved on maintain names for the remaining six seats.

The names of 5 ladies candidates figured within the first checklist. Indira Kapoor from Chamba, Reeta Dhiman from Indora, Sarveen Choudhary from Shahpur, Reena Kashyap from Pachhad and Shashi Bala from Rohru have been given tickets.
Sitting MLA from Sarkaghat Col Inder Singh has been denied a ticket from Sarkaghat in Mandi below the age standards.
The get together appears to have ignored its insistence on ‘no dynastic politics’, with sons of a minister and two former BJP leaders being given tickets. The BJP has fielded Rajat Thakur (Dharampur), son of Jal Shakti Minister Mahender Singh; Chetan Bragta (Jubbal Kotkhai), son of former minister Narinder Bragta; and Anil Dhiman (Bhoranj), son of former minister ID Dhiman. Anil Sharma, son of former communications minister Sukh Ram of the Congress, will contest from Mandi.
Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur has been fielded from his constituency Seraj, whereas chief of Finance Fee of the state, Satpal Singh Satti, will contest from Una.
Late on Tuesday night, the Congress had introduced its first checklist of 46 candidates and deliberations have been happening on the remaining 22 seats. The final date for submitting nominations is October 25.
