The federal government is ready to reintroduce the cost of highway tolls by an modification to charges and costs.
This was contained in a letter from the Finance Ministry dated March 11, 2023, signed by the Finance Minister, Mr Ken Ofori-Atta, and addressed to the Roads and Highways Ministry.
“Reference is made to paragraph 462 of the 2023 Price range Assertion and Economics of Authorities on the reintroduction of highway tolls. Reference can also be made to Part 6 of the Charges and Prices (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 2022, (Act 1080).”
“Accordingly, this Ministry has initiated steps to supply foundational charges for tolling of roads and highways as a part of the amendments of the Act, pending completion of the method to establish the roads and highways to be affected by the reintroduction of the highway tolls as acknowledged within the Price range,” it added.
It additional famous that it had offered below Part 6 of Act 1080 for the Minister to amend the schedules of the Act to incorporate or exclude Ministries, Departments and Businesses (MDAs) and modify the charges collected by MDAs for his or her companies by a Legislative Instrument, when needed.
