The brand new artwork exhibition at Zeitz MOCAA goals to discover black self-representation whereas celebrating international black subjectivities.
This exhibition boldly brings collectively artworks from the final century by black artists working globally into dialogue with main black thinkers, writers and poets who’re energetic right this moment. Richly illustrated with chosen works from the artwork exhibition, it features a contextual essay by exhibition co-curator Tandazani Dhlakama and 4 specifically commissioned texts by acclaimed feminine writers Maaza Mengiste (Ethiopia), Robin Coste Lewis (USA), Invoice Kouelany (Republic of Congo) and Ken Bugul (Senegal).
To create a well-rounded expertise for the aesthete a sonic translation compiled by South African composer and sound artist Neo Muyanga performs all through the exhibition house.
