In February 2012, I wrote on EconLog:
However, there’s a means that the federal authorities now cuts entry to contraceptives in a means that considerably raises the associated fee. Had been the federal government to eliminate the regulation that does this, girls’s entry to contraceptives would rise and the associated fee would fall.
What’s the regulation? It’s the one which requires contraceptive tablets to be prescribed drugs. If, as a substitute, drug corporations had been allowed to promote contraceptives over-the-counter, entry would rise and value would fall.
It took the feds solely 12 years. Individuals can now purchase oral contraceptives on Amazon.
