The All Progressives Congress (APC) has petitioned the Impartial Nationwide Electoral Fee (INEC) over the result of the 18 March governorship election in Delta State.
The petition was signed by Godwin Anaughe, the state APC Director, Election and Technique on Saturday in Asaba, the state capital.
INEC had declared Sheriff Oborevwori of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) because the winner of the 18 March governorship election within the state.
The State INEC Collation Officer, Onuwari Georgewill, a professor and the vice-chancellor, College of Port Harcourt, stated that Mr Oborevwori polled a complete of 360,234 votes to defeat his closest opponent, Ovie Omo-Agege of the APC who scored 240,229 votes.
Mr Anaughe stated the collation of the outcomes was not consistent with the Electoral Act, 2022.
“Following the conduct and announcement of outcomes, the Electoral Act makes provision for the collation of the introduced outcomes with a purpose to decide the winner of the election.
“Part 64(4) of the Electoral Act gives; a collation officer or returning officer at an election shall collate and announce the results of an election, topic to his or her verification and affirmation that the;
