The Tutorial Workers Union of Universities (ASUU), College of Calabar department, have staged a peaceable protest to demand the fee of their eight months’ wage arrears from the Federal Authorities.
Chairman of the union in UNICAL, Dr John Edor, who led different members on the protest on Wednesday in Calabar, stated members of the union had been owed eight months’ wage arrears, from March to October.
Edor stated that within the month of October, members of the union had been paid for 18 days, describing the fee as “each day fee” for staff.
He stated that ASUU was insisting on the revitalization of universities and that the welfare of college workers ought to be improved.
In keeping with him, the non-payment of the withheld wage arrears has continued to trigger untold hardship for the lecturers.

Responding, Vice Chancellor of UNICAL, Prof. Florence Obi, recommended the lecturers for his or her peaceable demonstration.
