After what appeared to be a rollercoaster, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the former Governor of Lagos State, has been announced winner of the All Progressives Congress (APC), primary elections.
Present at the Eagles Square to elect the flagbearer of the All Progressives Party were about 2,322 of delegates from across the country.
Those who stepped down for Tinubu were former Minister for Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio; Governor of Jigawa State, Abubakar Badaru; former governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun; Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi; former Speaker of House of Representatives, Hon. Dimeji Bankole; Senator Ajayi Boroffice and the only female aspirant, Uju Ohanenye.
Ahmed Tinubu had half of the overall votes (polled 1,271 votes) to the detriment of his closest and major opponents, Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo (who polled 235 votes), and the former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi (who polled 316 votes).
This brought to a close, the All Progressives Party primary election with Ahmed Bola Tinubu emerging as the flagbearer of the party ahead of the 2023 general elections.
