5 Famend Award Programmes – Fostering Design Innovation in Asia
HONG KONG SAR – Media OutReach – 9 February 2023 – DFA Awards is proud to announce the awardees of its 5 main programmes. DFA Awards is a flagship programme launched by by Hong Kong Design Centre (HKDC) in 2003; with Create Hong Kong, arrange by the Authorities of the Hong Kong Particular Administrative Area (HKSAR), as its lead sponsor.
Awardees embrace Katsumi ASABA, Founding father of Katsumi ASABA Design Studio, winner of the DFA Lifetime Achievement Award (DFA LAA); Muneaki MASUDA, President and CEO of Tradition Comfort Membership Co., Ltd, winner of the DFA Design Management Award (DFA DLA); GUO Pei, Founding father of Rose Studio, winner of the title of DFA World’s Excellent Chinese language Designer (DFA WOCD).
Two new disciplines – Digital & Movement Design, Service & Expertise Design – have been added to DFA Design for Asia Awards (DFA DFAA) this yr, with a complete of 195 awards. The awardees of the Grand Awards embrace EOS R3 by Canon Inc.; HONG KONG WALK ON / Tai Ping x Anothermountainman by 84000 Communications Restricted; M+ and M+ museum of visible tradition, each by M Plus Museum Restricted; Music Corridor within the Sky by Takuro Yamamoto Architects; Pingtan E-book Home by Condition_Lab; TaiSugar Round Village by Bio-Structure Formosana; Venova (YVS-140) by Yamaha Company; and Yuandang Bridge/ The Mainland by BAU Brearley Architects+Urbanists, SIDRI, and T&D.
The DFA Hong Kong Younger Design Expertise Award (DFA HKYDTA) recognises 16 designers’ excellent work. 13 of them can be granted in depth monetary sponsorships to proceed their tutorial research abroad for 6-18 months; or work in high design establishments across the globe for 6-12 months.
For the previous 20 years, HKDC has been actively fostering Hong Kong’s design tradition, launching revolutionary platforms to encourage cross-boundary exchanges between creatives within the area and the entire of Asia. DFA Awards will proceed to bolster Hong Kong’s standing as a famend worldwide design hub.
