The Commandant, Nigeria Safety and Civil Defence Corps, Kano State Command, Mohammed Lawal Falala, has charged personnel to work with the utmost care, professionalism, and diligence to protect towards the infringement of the elemental human rights of Nigerians.
That is contained in a press release issued by the command’s Public Relations Officer, DSC Ibrahim Abdullahi, a duplicate of which was made accessible to The PUNCH on Thursday.
In line with Abdullahi, the NSCDC Commandant gave the cost whereas declaring open a one-day seminar organised by the authorized unit of the NSCDC, Kano Command on Wednesday.
“The workshop is geared toward sensitising personnel to work in tandem with extant legal guidelines, code of conduct, professionalism, ethics and guarantee respect for human rights.
“To keep away from litigation and enforcement of elementary rights of the residents towards the Corps, we should work and conduct ourselves professionally. We shouldn’t molest and assault harmless residents, even suspects in our custody. We have to be skilled in dealing with them,” Falala was quoted as saying within the assertion.
The NSCDC boss stated, “The period of assault and manhandling suspects has gone, henceforth I don’t need to see any enforcement towards the Corps”, the State Commandant warned.
In his remarks, the Command’s Head of the Authorized unit, Barrister Muhammad Aliyu, spoke at size on arrest procedures, overstay in detention amenities and its authorized penalties amongst different sundry authorized issues.
The one-day seminar was attended by the seven space commanders, the 44 Divisional Officers within the state in addition to the Command’s and Divisional Intelligence officers.
