NEW YORK — An FDNY firefighter who risked his life to rescue a toddler from a burning house in Brooklyn was honored Friday.
Mayor Eric Adams introduced a proclamation to Firefighter Stefon Douglas throughout a ceremony at Metropolis Corridor.

Douglas was going house from work on June 5 when he noticed a house on hearth on Kings Freeway in Flatlands.
“He was not wearing his regular firefighter apparel, however he instantly responded. He responded and he picked up a backyard hose, began placing out the flames, coming into the home, heard cries of a kid, made his approach by the smoke and the flames to get to the kid that was in a rest room, and he saved that child,” Adams stated.
Douglas works out of Engine 276 in Brooklyn. He’s a primary technology FDNY firefighter.
