A 40-year-old, Chike Olemgbe, has been elected as the brand new Speaker of the Imo State Home of Meeting.
Olemgbe, a first-time lawmaker representing Ihitte/Uboma Native Authorities Space, was elected unopposed on Friday throughout the inauguration of the tenth State Home of Meeting in Owerri, the state capital.
Olemgbe is the rapid previous Transition Committee Chairman of the Ihitte/Uboma LGA.
The movement for the nomination of Olemgbe as the brand new Speaker was moved by the member-elect for Ideato South, Vitalis Azodo, and seconded by Ugochukwu Obodo, a member-elect for Owerri Municipal Council.
The Clerk of the Home, Chinelo Emeghara, thereafter known as for the swearing-in of Olemgbe after no additional nomination was made.
The rapid previous deputy speaker of the Meeting, Amara Iwuanyanwu, was returned as the brand new deputy speaker unopposed.
He was instantly sworn in because the deputy speaker within the state.
In his speech, the brand new Speaker promised to work in synergy with the chief arm to ship the dividends of democracy to the folks of the state.
