A residential highway in Glasgow has been positioned in lockdown after police found a suspected military-grade “ordnance” in a again backyard.
Locals have been advised to evacuate their houses simply yards from a youngsters’s play space after the invention in Banavie Street at round noon Tuesday.
Police Scotland confirmed the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit have been on their option to the property.
A photographer working near the scene stated he noticed a fireplace engine race in the direction of Banavie Street.
Officers have cordoned off the empty avenue as a “precaution”.
A Police Scotland spokesperson stated: “Round 12.05pm on Tuesday 12 September 2023, police have been referred to as to a property in Banavie Street, Glasgow, following the invention of suspected ordnance in a again backyard.
“The EOD are on their approach and a cordon is in place.
“Individuals in surrounding properties have been evacuated as a precaution till the merchandise could be safely disposed of.”
