The Inspector-Normal of Police, Usman Baba, on Thursday, embellished the newly-promoted senior cops with their new ranks amidst cheers from their households, associates, {and professional} colleagues.
The ceremony happened on the Goodluck Jonathan Peacekeeping Corridor, Pressure Headquarters, Abuja.
A complete of 58 senior cops had been embellished. Amongst them was Adeolu Egbetokun, who was elevated from the rank of Assistant Inspector-Normal of Police to Deputy Inspector-Normal of Police.
These elevated from the rank of Commissioner of Police to AIG had been Matthew Akinyosola, Jonathan Towuru, Abiodun Alabi, Akande Sikiru, Abimbola Shokoya, Yekini Ayoku, Olofu Adejoh, Aliyu Garba, Idrisu Dabban, Yusuf Usman, Haladu Ros-Amson, Babaita Ishola, Alexander Wannang, Ari Muhammed, Mamman Sanda, Sadiq Abubakar, Frank Mba, Benjamin Okolo, Oyediran Oyeyemi, Babaji Sunday, Arungwa Udo and Yusuf Chiromawa.
Thirty-three different officers had been moved to the rank of Commissioners of Police.
Amongst these in attendance had been the Secretary to the Authorities of the Federation, Boss Mustapha; Chairman, Senate Committee on Police Affairs, Senator Haliru Jika; Chairman, Home Committee on Police Affairs, Bello Kumo; a former governor of Zamfara State, Ahmad Yerima; the paramount ruler of Yewa, Ogun State, Dr Kehinde Olugbenle, amongst others.
The IG charged the newly-promoted senior officers to internalise and uphold the tenets of the Presidential Police Reform Agenda whereas emphasising respect for elementary human rights and the rule of legislation.
Baba additionally urged them to carry their wealth of expertise to bear of their new postings.
