Japan makes progress with ammonia barge

Three Japanese events have obtained the world’s first approval in precept (AiP) for an ammonia floating storage and regasification barge.

NYK Line, Nihon Shipyard, and IHI Company secured the AiP from ClassNK.

In Japan, technological growth is underway for ammonia combined combustion energy technology at coal-fired energy vegetation.

The brand new barge idea is an offshore floating facility that may obtain and retailer ammonia that has been transported through ship as a liquid, heat and regasify ammonia based on demand, after which ship it to a pipeline onshore.
