Notorious kidnap kingpin, Hamisu Bala, referred to as Wadume has been freed after serving a seven-year jail time period.
The spokesman of the Nigerian Correctional Service, (NCoS), Abubakar Umar, confirmed Wadume’s launch.

Wadume was sentenced to seven years in jail following his arrest and arraignment on kidnapping expenses in August 2022 however his sentence was backdated to 2019 when he was first arrested.
“He, (Wadume), has served his full time period and has been launched from custody Saturday in Abuja,” Umar stated.
“His sentence commenced administratively in August 2019.”
Bala was first arrested in Ibi, Taraba state by the Intelligence Response Workforce, (IRT), of the Inspector Common of Police on sixth August 2019.
He escaped police custody whereas being transported to Abuja from Ibi. He was aided by some troopers belonging to 93 Battalion, Takum which at the moment was led by one Captain Tijjani Balarabe who allegedly shot at police personnel conveying Wadume.
The assault led to the demise of three policemen, two civilians and wounding 5 others.
Wadume was later rearrested by the police in Kano and charged to courtroom in February, 2020 alongside Balarabe and 18 others.
Reviews stated former Legal professional Common and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, who took over the case in June 2020, controversially amended the costs introduced in opposition to Wadume to exempt Captain Balarabe and 9 different troopers charged as co-accused.
The prosecution reportedly didn’t show the kidnapping expenses wherein Wadume is accused of within the kidnapping case of 1 Usman Garba, also referred to as Mayo. Wadume was alleged to have collected N106 ransom.
Reacting to information of Wadume’s launch from jail, Govt Director, Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Heart, (CISLAC), Auwalu Rafsanjani, described the discharge “Misplacement of judicial justice system in Nigeria.”
He stated “Those that are alleged to obtained stiff penalty for atrocities they dedicated are being pampered and given all kinds of leverages to return again and proceed with their atrocities.
“What has occurred simply goes to indicate how administrative justice system is Nigeria will not be truly responding to justice in Nigeria.
“Anyone who has dedicated these diploma of atrocities, you at the moment are treating him like a king; that is going to inspire and encourage extra individuals to commit these crimes as a result of he’ll come again and proceed to terrorize the general public.This in a really perfect society mustn’t occur.”
Rafsanjani laments that “People who find themselves harmless are languishing in jail, a few of them have spent 20 years, 15 years in jail with out trial.
