A lioness that escaped a wildlife lodge close to Ventersburg within the Free State after loadshedding disabled a secured gate, has been discovered and euthanised.
The lioness escaped Tara Wildlife Lodge at 4 am on 23 September after the electrified gate to the enclosure was disabled throughout loadshedding.
A search group consisting of law enforcement officials and nature conservation officers ultimately noticed her on 1 October near the place it had escaped.
