A routine patrol went awry when an anti-poaching unit (APU) within the Sabi Sands Sport Reserve was allegedly ambushed by a leopard.
The APU responded in self-defence, which in the end claimed the leopard’s life. A full investigation has been launched into the tragic incident.
All security protocols had been adopted, in keeping with preliminary findings. Extra findings will probably be offered as they develop into out there.
The leopard is considered Hosana, a male leopard that was born in Djuma Non-public Sport Reserve inside the Sabi Sands in 2016.
After their births had been livestreamed throughout a safari, Hosana and his sister Xongile grew to become immediate celebrities within the reserve and even across the globe. Messages from WildEarth viewers world wide have been pouring in for Hosana, which suggests “little chief”. His devoted social media web page has over 7000 followers.
