The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Growth, Festus Keyamo, defaulting airways should pay compensations for flight cancelations and delays.
He stated this in Abuja yesterday throughout a gathering with the heads of businesses underneath the ministry.
“We’re not deaf to the cries of Nigerians about delays and canceled flights. The regulation is there and we’re easy methods to implement these legal guidelines for compensation of Nigerians who bear the brunt of cancellation of flights and disrupting the actions.
“The method of grounding the airline or taking the airways to courtroom will create extra issues. So if the explanation for the delay and cancellation of flight is their fault they have to pay compensation. And what I’m suggesting is that if they do not get money again they have to get some rebate once they purchase subsequent ticket.
“I’ve arrange a committee to look into it such that they’ll generate a code that they’ll use once they wish to buy the subsequent ticket.
“We’re involved concerning the passenger satisfaction and the security of the air vacationers,” he stated. The minister directed the Director-Normal of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority to organize a weekly catalogue of canceled flights.
He additionally directed the Nigeria Security Investigation Bureau to conclude all incidents of air accidents and mishaps within the subsequent 10 days.
He stated: “For the latest incidents that occurred lately, some minor, and others labeled as critical incidents though there have been no fatalities. The NSIB is investigating these incidents and I’ve directed them that inside 10 days from at the moment they have to submit their report of the incidents and what truly transpired.
