The Nigeria Immigration Service says it has ordered its workplaces throughout the nation to work on Saturdays to clear the backlog of passport purposes.
The comptroller-general of the Immigration Service, Isa Jere, gave the directive, based on a press release by the spokesperson, Tony Akuneme, on Saturday.
Mr Jere mentioned the directive is to allow the Service to scale back the backlog attributable to the 2020 and 2021 extended lockdowns as a result of COVID-19 pandemic.
