Chattogram-based PHP Ship Breaking and Recycling Industries mentioned it has grow to be the primary ship recycling facility in Bangladesh to obtain a ship from Japan.
Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK) has offered its 1998-built multipurpose (MPP) vessel Kamo to PHP for recycling in step with the Hong Kong Conference for the Protected and Environmentally Sound Recycling of Ships (HKC).
NYK, which conducts ship recycling at class society-certified yards, of which 30 are in India, three in China, and one in Turkey, mentioned PHP has met its requirements for ship recycling measures “pertaining to the surroundings, security, occupational well being, and respect for human rights”.
Commenting on LinkedIn, Mohammed Zahirul Islam, managing director at PHP ship breaking and recycling industries, hailed the take care of NYK as “a historic second for PHP and Bangladesh,” with PHP including that “acknowledging the efforts of the nation, PHP SRF and companions towards the ratification of HKC, PHP Household believes that this step additional will encourage safer and greener ship recycling practices in Bangladesh”.
The HKC was adopted by the Worldwide Maritime Group (IMO) in 2009, and PHP Household’s recycling yard was, till not too long ago, the one one in Bangladesh holding an announcement of compliance.
Earlier this month, SN Company’s shipbreaking yard was awarded HKC compliance by Japan’s ClassNK underneath Dubai-based money purchaser World Advertising Techniques (GMS)’s Sustainable Ship & Offshore Recycling Program (SSORP).
