Of Course, I’m A Reporter
Chidinma Kalu
Of course, I’m a reporter
A pen is mightier than a sword or so they say
In the battle of ideas stressed as the ultimate
The pen is a weapon of profound
Yet my works invite close inspection,
Against the sword, it’s deemed libelous,
They scrutinize my ink, every line,
Unshackled, yet tethered by invisible twine.
Of course, I’m a reporter,
Report facts, the instructions so clear
of the pubic, be their eyes and ears,
Not the puppet of agendas
Yet pages filled with ink, a double-edged sword,
They claim the Pen’s might, but the sword’s ink is stored,
Loyalty to truth, questioned by the master,
Fact reporting is an easy hard task.
Either way, I’m still a reporter
I dance with words, making tales
Wet ink, stories flow like a persistent river
I am a scribe of reality.
