Japanese liner Ocean Community Categorical (ONE) is trialling wind propulsion with Dutch agency Econowind. The magenta-branded containerline is ready to put in two containerised wind help gadgets, often known as VentoFoil containers, on the Kalamazoo, a 1,036 teu feeder vessel working between Busan, Yokohama, and Honolulu.
The trial, scheduled to start in January 2024 and run for about six months, will probably be a complete research, with ONE intently monitoring the efficiency of the VentoFoils. Knowledge on gasoline consumption, emissions reductions, and general operational effectivity will probably be collected.
