Judiciary staff in Oyo State on Tuesday complied with the sit-at-home directive issued by the Judiciary Employees Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) over delay in cost of July wage.
The Oyo State JUSUN Public Relations Officer, Mr Obafunso Okulaja advised the Information Company of Nigeria (NAN) that the choice for the motion was resolved after the union’s congress on Friday.
Okulaja stated the employees had not obtained July wage whereas different authorities businesses within the state have been paid on July 25.
“Our members shouldn’t have cash to come back to work so we directed them to sit down at house.
“JUSUN is but to obtain July wage within the state and this delay in wage cost has been like this since December 2021.
“We name on the state authorities to place us on the precedence listing because the third arm of the federal government.
“If the chief and legislative arms are given precedence, the judiciary must also be given identical.
“The sit-at-home will proceed till we obtain our July wage,” he stated.
NAN experiences that on the Iyaganku Magistrates’ Courtroom and State Excessive Courtroom, the doorway gates to courtroom premises and a few workplaces have been locked whereas individuals and automobiles have been restrained from coming into.
A employee who spoke on situation of anonymity decried the delay in wage cost.
”We urge the federal government to urgently do one thing about it,” he stated.
