The Nigeria Police Drive (NPF) has issued a deadline for the registration of autos on the digitalized Central Motor Registry (e-CMR) platform.
Police spokesman, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, in a press release on Saturday mentioned the NPF is about to begin the enforcement of the e-CMR on July 29, 2024.
Adejobi mentioned the e-CMR is likely one of the efforts of the Inspector-Basic of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, to boost the safety of lives and properties throughout Nigeria.
He mentioned the train will assist to rejuvenate and digitalize the motorized vehicle registration system, considerably bolstering Nigeria’s security and safety framework.
“The e-CMR is a complicated, real-time on-line repository of motorized vehicle knowledge, designed to help police investigations, operational actions, and fight vehicle-related crimes, together with terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, and armed theft,” Adejobi defined.

The police spokesman mentioned the transition to a digitalized system will streamline the documentation and verification processes for car possession and associated transactions.
He said that following the directives of the IGP, companies similar to change of possession, change of license quantity, change of engine, and alter of chassis/physique would grow to be seamless.
Based on him, the e-CMR system would make sure the validation of car genuineness and possession, enhancing the power to trace and get better stolen autos successfully, in addition to stopping the acquisition of stolen autos by harmless patrons.
