Lagos State Police Command says it has arrested two suspected cultists within the state and recovered firearm from them.
The command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, said this in an announcement made accessible to newsmen on Sunday in Lagos.
He mentioned that the suspected cultists have been arrested on Sept. 23 at about 6.30 p.m. throughout a routine police patrol by detectives from Badagry division.
The PPRO mentioned that the police workforce was suspicious of the suspects’ motion inside Ajara neighborhood and launched an assault on them, whereas different members of the gang took to their heels upon sighting the operatives.
“After a radical search of the suspects, a locally-made double-barreled pistol, 9 reside cartridges, charms and weed suspected to be Indian hemp have been discovered of their possession.
“Investigation revealed that the suspects are members of Eiye Confraternity in Badagry and environs.
“Efforts are in place to unravel extra particulars about their actions and supply of the firearm,” he mentioned.
Hundeyin mentioned that the suspects can be arraigned upon conclusion of investigation.
