An advert hoc committee of the Home of Representatives has commenced a probe into alleged non-remittance of the Nationwide Housing Funds (NHF).
The committee, chaired by Dachung Bagos (PDP, Plateau), has the mandate to analyze non-remittance and utilisation of the Fund from 2011 thus far.
Mr Bagos, in an announcement on Saturday, mentioned the committee will begin the investigative listening to on Wednesday.
He mentioned it has despatched invitation letters to the heads of related businesses.
These invited, in accordance with the lawmaker, are the Head of Service, Folashade Yemi-Esan; the Accountant Common of the Federation, Oluwatoyin Madein; the Chairman of the Impartial Corrupt Practices and Different Associated Offences Fee (ICPC), Bolaji Owasanoye; and the Performing Chairman of the Financial and Monetary Fee (EFCC), Abdulkarim Chukkol.
Others are the managing director of the Federal Mortgage Financial institution of Nigeria (FMBN); the officer in control of the division of property improvement mortgage; the managing director of the Federal Housing Authority (FHA).

The Govt Secretary of the Federal Authorities Workers Housing Loans board, the President/Chairman of the Council of Actual Property Builders Affiliation of Nigeria and everlasting secretaries of the Ministry of Finance, Price range and Nationwide Planning, the Ministry of Works and Housing have additionally been invited.

All Nigerians in employment, whether or not self-employed or in paid employment, are required by the NHF Act No. 3 of 1992 to contribute 2.5 per cent of their fundamental wage/revenue to the fund.
Zakaria Nyampa (PDP, Adamawa), who moved the movement for the investigation of the fund in July, had raised considerations concerning the utilisation of the NHF.
In his movement, Mr Nyampa mentioned there “appears to be a gross default within the utilisation and remittance of the Nationwide Housing Fund which constitutes an offence underneath part 20 of the NHF Act.”
