Russia has stated a bunch of its warships have arrived in Iran to participate in drills with Iran and China within the Gulf of Oman and the Arabian Sea.
The joint workouts, referred to as “Maritime Safety Belt – 2024”, will contain warships and aviation, the Russian defence ministry stated in an announcement quoted by state media on Monday.
“The sensible a part of the train will happen within the waters of the Gulf of Oman of the Arabian Sea,” the ministry stated. “The primary objective of the maneuvers is to work out the protection of maritime financial exercise.”
Russia’s grouping is led by the Varyag, a missile cruiser from its Pacific Fleet, the ministry stated. It stated representatives from the navies of Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Oman, India and South Africa would act as observers.
