Scientists have discovered a brand new manner of discovering if alien life exists on a planet.
Researchers on the College of California, Riverside (UCR) have found that signatures of greenhouse gases – resembling methane, ethane and propane – can be a significant signal {that a} planet has been terraformed (artificially altered) by one other type of life.
Scientists performed simulations on a hypothetical planet and found that NASA’s James Webb House Telescope may spot the gases simply.
UCR astrobiologist and lead creator of the research Edward Schwieteman mentioned: “For us, these gases are unhealthy as a result of we do not need to improve warming.
“However they’d be good for a civilisation that maybe needed to forestall an impending ice age or terraform an in any other case uninhabitable planet within the system, as people have proposed for Mars.”
