Sea Pioneer indicators for as much as 4 MR tankers at Ok Shipbuilding

Greek proprietor Sea Pioneer Transport has contracted as much as 4 MR product tanker newbuilds at South Korea’s Ok Shipbuilding.

Business sources say the Vasilis Bacolitsas-led firm paid round $45m per 50,000 dwt ship, with two agency deliveries in 2025 and choices for 2 extra vessels connected to the deal.

Brokers at Allied mentioned the ‘early supply’ vessels have been secured for a below-market charge on account of a excessive upfront fee.

That is Sea Pioneer’s second newbuilding contract in 2023 after signing up for the development of three kamsarmax bulk carriers at Oshima Shipbuilding in Japan.

Excluding the newbuilds, the Athens-based firm lists 12 ships in its fleet: seven bulkers and 6 tankers.
