Singapore will function a testbed to trial and pilot using digital ship identification in maritime functions resembling digital port clearance and digital bunkering.
Through the ongoing Singapore Maritime Week, the Maritime & Port Authority (MPA) of Singapore has agreed to host the so-called Marine Vessel Go (MVP) trials.
S&P World Market Intelligence manages the Worldwide Maritime Group (IMO) database of distinctive identification numbers that each one vessels are assigned and has been working with Bunkerchain for plenty of years creating the MVP.
“We envision a singular Digital Go for all seafaring vessels tied to a ship’s IMO quantity to allow digital transactions and course of automation throughout port calls,” Bunkerchain states on its website. “The IMO quantity is rarely reassigned to a different ship and is proven on the ship’s certificates. It’s just like a citizen’s digital identities tied to a Nationwide Registration ID database.”
