The Metropolis of Cape City has reminded residents and guests that Milnerton Lagoon, Milnerton Estuary Mouth and Lagoon Seaside stay closed for swimming as a consequence of air pollution within the Diep River.
“There was ongoing air pollution inside the Diep River that has been properly publicised. The Diep River discharges on the estuary mouth at Lagoon Seaside. In consequence, Lagoon Seaside can also be affected by air pollution within the Diep River,” the Metropolis stated on Wednesday.
With the height season and sizzling summer season temperatures, the Metropolis has been made conscious that individuals are swimming within the estuary mouth, in Milnerton Lagoon and at Lagoon Seaside.
“The Metropolis wish to remind each residents and guests that these areas are polluted, and the Milnerton Lagoon, Milnerton Estuary Mouth and Lagoon Seaside stay closed for swimming, enjoying and leisure use.
“Air pollution warning indicators stay in place. We recognize the general public’s cooperation throughout this time,” the Metropolis stated.
