The suspended native 23 authorities chairmen in Benue State stayed away from their workplaces on Monday opposite to their vow to not recognise their suspension by state Home of Meeting.
The Meeting had final week really helpful the suspension of the LG chairmen and councillors to Governor Hyancinth Alia, asking that they need to get replaced with with caretaker committees.
The Meeting mentioned the suspension of the LG chairmen was to pave the best way for a probe of the allegation that they “connived with the manager councils to mismanage public funds put of their belief.”
However reacting to the suspension on the weekend,the Benue State Chairman of Affiliation of Native Authorities of Nigeria, Michael Uba, mentioned the LG chairmen didn’t recognise the suspension and would resume at their workplaces on Monday.
On Sunday, the state governor, Alia, suggested the LG chairmen to respect the legislation of the land, noting that their suspension by the Meeting was lawful, whereas reminding them that they lack immunity.
Our correspondent who visited Makurdi Native Authorities secretariat noticed that neither the chairman nor the councillors had been on the secretariat.
Additionally checks by our correspondent indicated that the chairman of Emblem, Guma, Ado, and Otukpo native governments stayed away from their workplaces.
Our correspondent learnt that the council chairmen moderately gathered in Makurdi, the capital metropolis on Monday to strategise on the following transfer because the state authorities insisted on the suspension.
When contacted on telephone by correspondent, two of the council chairmen,James Oche of Ado LGA; and Amina Audu of Okpokwu LGA, insisted that that they had not vacated workplace.
They insisted that they had been elected into workplace for a two-year tenure which had not lapsed.
The Benue State ALGON Chairman, who can also be the Chairman, Guma LGA, Uba, mentioned, “We’re taking authorized means to unravel our downside. As a substitute of violent methods, we now have determined to ressort to authorized course of.
