A 17-year-old from Chesapeake, Virginia died Saturday after being buried in a gap below a number of toes of sand at Cape Hatteras Nationwide Seashore, the seashore mentioned.
Household and associates on the lookout for the teenager discovered him trapped below sand, the seashore mentioned, after components of an adjoining dune apparently collapsed into the outlet.
It was simply east of an off-road car ramp in Frisco, N.C. in a back-dune space behind a foremost dune and could not be seen from the beachfront, the seashore identified.
Rangers responding to a 911 name and members of the family tried to tug the teenager out, and the rangers carried out CPR. Dare County Emergency Medical Providers personnel and Hatteras Island Ocean Rescue employees helped to tug him out and with the CPR, however he could not be revived, the seashore mentioned.

David Hallac, the superintendent of Nationwide Parks of Jap North Carolina mentioned in a press release that, “Cape Hatteras Nationwide Seashore presents our condolences to his household and associates,” including that, “We urge guests to not dig deep holes on the seashore as a result of hazard they current to beachgoers and emergency response employees.”
