President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has created the Federal Ministry of Livestock Growth.
No minister has been introduced but for the brand new ministry.
Tinubu introduced the creation of the ministry on Tuesday on the State Home, whereas inaugurating the Renewed Hope livestock Reform Implementation Committee.
Current on the Inauguration have been the Vice President, Kashim Shettima, the Secretary to the Authorities of the Federation, George Akume, the Chief of Workers to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila amongst cupboard members.
Recall that President Tinubu on fifteenth September, 2023, accepted the institution of the Presidential Committee devoted to the reform of the livestock trade and the supply of long-term options to recurring clashes between herders and farmers within the nation.
The establishing of the committee was sequel to the submission of a report from the Nationwide Convention on Livestock Reforms and Mitigation of Related Conflicts in Nigeria.
President Tinubu was requested to create a ministry of livestock sources to curb the incessant clashes between farmers and herders.
This was a part of the suggestions of the nationwide livestock reforms committee which submitted its report back to the president President.
The committee which was inaugurated by Abdullahi Ganduje, a former governor of Kano, in January was chaired by Attahiru Jega, ex-chairman of the Unbiased Nationwide Electoral Fee (INEC).
In its suggestions, the committee stated the federal authorities’s plan to ascertain grazing reserves must be resuscitated.
The administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari had labored in the direction of establishing a nationwide livestock transformation plan (NLTP).
Talking with reporters after assembly with Tinubu and members of the committee, Ganduje, nationwide chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), stated 21 suggestions have been made to the president.
He stated Tinubu assured members of the committee that he would take into account the suggestions.
