The Adamawa State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal, on Saturday, affirmed the election of Governor Ahmadu Fintiri within the 18 March ballot, dismissing the petition by the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Aishatu Binani.
Delivering the judgement, Theodora Uloho, the chairperson of the tribunal, stated the petition failed to ascertain the allegation of non-compliance with the Electoral Act throughout the election.
”The petitioner failed to ascertain the allegation of non-compliance with the Electoral Act and show the case with cogent, credible and passable proof.
“All paperwork tendered by the petitioner had been dumped on the tribunal and the star witness didn’t reveal any of the paperwork to hyperlink it with any of their materials allegation within the petition,” she stated.
The Impartial Nationwide Electoral Fee (INEC) had declared Mr Fintiri because the winner after a supplementary election on 18 April.
He polled 430,861 votes to defeat Ms Binani who scored 398,788 votes.
Nonetheless, Ms Binani filed a petition difficult the declaration, alleging that the election was not performed in substantial compliance with the electoral act.
