Elton’s Prada has discovered its Satan: Vanessa Williams has been solid as Miranda Priestly within the upcoming West Finish manufacturing of the Elton John-Shaina Taub stage musical adaptation of The Satan Wears Prada.

The long-anticipated The Satan Wears Prada opens October 24 on the Dominion Theatre in London.
Williams, who performed the equally stylish Wilhelmina Slater in TV’s Ugly Betty, mentioned in a press release, “Bringing Miranda Priestly to life within the West Finish is an absolute dream come true. Gird your loins, people.”
No stranger to the stage, Williams made her West Finish debut in 2019 in a revival of Metropolis of Angels, and has appeared on Broadway in Into the Woods, Kiss of the Spider Lady, Sondheim on Sondheim, The Journey to Bountiful, After Midnight, and, most not too long ago, 2022’s POTUS: Or, Behind Each Nice Dumbass are Seven Ladies Attempting to Preserve Him Alive.
Based mostly on Lauren Weisberger’s 2003 novel and the 2006 film adaptation (which starred Meryl Streep within the Priestly position), Prada options music by John, lyrics by Taub (whose Suffs is heading to Broadway this spring), and a guide by Kate Wetherhead. Jerry Mitchell directs and choreographs.
Extra casting can be introduced later.
A model of the musical, directed by Anna D. Shapiro, debuted in Chicago in 2022, with Broadway favourite Beth Leavel (The Promenade) within the Priestly position, although a switch was, on the time, nixed when John deemed the manufacturing “not prepared” for a direct subsequent staging.
