FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, has requested the Abuja Environmental Safety Board (AEPB) to scale up the demolition of shanties within the capital metropolis to curb common insecurity in Abuja.
Osi Braimah, director of AEPB, mentioned this on Sunday whereas talking with the Information Company of Nigeria (NAN) through the ongoing demolition of all shanty shops in-built a market at Space 11 popularly referred to as (the COVID-19 market) in Abuja.
“Removing of shanties and unlawful settlements in Space 11 and a few components of the town is to curb the incessant insecurity confronted by residents.
“That is an ongoing train by numerous businesses of the FCT. AEPB has been given a marching order by the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike to scale up the demolition of all shanties, unlawful settlements and squatter camps within the FCT.
